The Christmas season has just begun, and we've been preparing our hearts for Jesus for several weeks at St. Mary School.

-- The Student Council donated $350 worth of toys to the Decatur County Department of Child Services.
-- The entire school collected canned and boxed goods for the Hot Meals Program and various items for the Cheer Fund.
-- Some 8th grade students helped set up the nativity scene outside the building.
-- The Art Club helped us get in a festive mood by decorating our windows.
-- Many students made cards to send to residents at local nursing homes, and the 1st grade students even visited to sing to them.
-- The 6th graders opened the Dollar Christmas Tree Store for students to buy presents for their families and friends and made over $700 to be donated to The Arbor Day Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project.
-- The 6th grade also provided daily readings and created a Jesse Tree to help us all reflect on the family ancestors of Jesus.
-- We've all been praying with and for each other through our Advent Angel exchange in our faith families.
-- We celebrated the gift of family at our last mass before break by inviting some alumni to come and help us remember that our school and faith family extends well beyond just those who are here in our building right now.
-- We were graced with a fantastic Christmas performance by the Greensburg High School Show Choir.
-- We sang, smiled, performed, and spent time together, celebrating the miracle of Christ's birth just before heading home to celebrate the holidays with our families at home.

Wow! We've been busy! And, truthfully, this list probably isn't all of it! Now, it's time to relax and rejoice with our extended family-- which includes YOU!-- and wish you a very blessed and merry Christmas from everyone at St. Mary School. โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŽ„

On Tuesday night, the St. Mary's Knights boy's 7th & 8th grade basketball teams hosted the visiting St. Nicholas Saints.
In the 7th grade game, the Knights attacked early in the 1st half, lead by Caleb Greiwe, Carson Miller, and Joey Everroad, who combined for 16 first half points. The Knights took a 21-8 lead at the mid way point and never looked back, which resulted in a Knights win 37-23. Joey Everroad lead all scorers with 10 points. Caleb Greiwe added 8 points and Jacoby Miller had 7 points. Rounding out scorers for the Knights are Carson Miller and Ethan Smith with 4 each, while Joey Yake and Garret Kramer both added 2 points. The 7th grade Knight keep their perfect season alive at 8-0.
In the 8th grade competition, the Knights came out on the wrong end of the battle with the final score of 22-34. Parker Phillips lead the offensive attack for the Knights by connecting from long range on 4 occasions, ending the game with 14 points. Cy Miller added 5 points and Joey Everroad had 3 points. Good to see St. Mary's getting more involved in athletics. In the past, we Catholic kids had to REALLY prove ourselves since coaches had never seen us much less see us compete. We had some really good athletes who didn't even try out because they weren't already known.

Did you know... the middle schoolers have a โ€œflexโ€ period where they can catch up on classwork, do homework, etc. Sometimes the kids are all caught up, so theyโ€™re encouraged to help out around the school. Today, here are 2 6th graders, Chase Walsman & Jonah Hellmich, playing a phonics game with some first graders. The first graders love spending time with the โ€œbig kidsโ€ of our school. ... If you're doing any fall purging, box things up and bring them to the St. Mary's stage beginning Monday, Nov. 4th. Mrs. Debbie Peetz has once again graciously offered to organize a resale booth for us at the Holiday Expo on Nov 9th. Amazing!

No clothing, please. Only home or holiday decor, knickknacks, kitchen items, toys, etc.

You don’t have to mark prices on anything! We will take care of that for you. Stocking stuffers, decor, and knickknacks sell very well. All money goes to St. Mary’s.

It was a beautiful day to bring our XC season to an end. No ribbons or hardware, but some PRs and a lot of fun!
Not to mention, our very own...
... Frankie Fry took the title of 3rd fastest 4th grade girl in the STATE!
And
... Alaina Bedel claims the title of the 4th fastest 5th grade girl in the STATE!
