The 7th and 8th grade Academic Teams had a tough competition against some teachers, parents, grandparents and SMAFA last week, but an impressive lightning round helped the 8th grade team pull out a victory.

Special thanks to the Decatur County Community Foundation for Ms. Witkemper's Thank-a-Teacher grant that allowed us to purchase the buzzer system to help the teams practice. This DEFINITELY made a difference in the way they competed!

“Alfombra” is Spanish for “rug” or “carpet.”
6th & 7th grade Spanish classes made their own miniature alfombras during Holy Week as they learned about a special Guatemalan tradition. In Antigua, Guatemala, people use sawdust, seeds, flowers, and other materials from nature to create beautiful alfombras on the streets in preparation for a parade honoring the passion of Jesus during His last week on earth.
Check out their creations. They were impressive and beautiful! Well done!! 🌼🪷✝️⛪️🌸🌺

6th graders in Mrs. Little’s P.E. class had a physical fitness goal to run 20 laps (1 mile) and they paired it with a mission to run for #HopefulHeartsforHallie

After they achieved their goal, they followed with a short prayer and meditation for Hallie & anyone else they felt needed prayers in that moment.

Way to go, 6th graders! ❤️🤍
